As long as you are discharged from bankruptcy you can claim your PPI

You are right that you can claim for PPI after you are discharged from bankruptcy. However you are unlikely to receive any compensation you are awarded. This is because PPI compensation is treated is an unrealised asset of your bankruptcy and should still be paid to the Official Receiver. If you are claiming against a bank that was included in your bankruptcy then it is likely that the bank will pay any compensation you are due directly to your old official receiver.
