Discussion and questions about what to expect when your bankruptcy is finished

Hi all
I need an advice. I went through bankruptcy (that was the best think I did) and now I am trying to build up my credit. I am not naive, I know that will take time.

Anyway, I got my credit file and I found that Next debt I have shows still as currently open and shows D default from the date I went iva (then subsequently bancrupt). I was discharged in November 2019.

That debt was included in my bancrupcy order so I don't understand really.
Thank you for any help

Hi JennyG

You dont need to worry about this debt. It was definitely written off in your bankruptcy. It is quite normal for a creditor to continue to record a debt as open and defaulted on the credit file. The record will fall off your credit file automatically 6 years from the date the default was issued.

If you want Next to change the status of the debt to "partially satisfied" you can ask them to do that. However to be honest I don't think it will make a lot of difference.
