Hello members,

Need some advices please, I went Bankrupt in March 2011. At the time I had Barclays primer account with about £1200 overdrawn. Its all part of the bankruptcy order. At the time I did informed the Barclays with court reference. When I look in to my credit reference file recently the account still open and now it’s up to £7000 overdrawn. All other accounts are closed expect this. How do I solve this issue?

Many thanks

Hi there Sathees and welcome to the forum.

This is a mistake by Barclays. According to the data Protection Act they must change the status of the account to "Satisfied" or "Partially Satisfied". You need to send a letter to the Barclays Data Controller pointing out their error. You should confirm that you are discharged from bankruptcy. This should do the trick.

I suggest you read the following link which is an article about how to do this and gives some really useful tips about improving your credit rating after Bankruptcy: Improve Credit Rating after Bankruptcy
